2024-2025 Magnet Program Application Information
Posted on 11/08/2023

The application window is now open for current 8th graders who are interested in entering a DCSS high school magnet program next school year. The high schools have begun to hold their informational meetings for students and parents to learn about program curriculum, requirements, expectations, and the admissions process. Some programs require an interview or audition as part of that process.  All of this information is also available on the high school websites and by reaching out to the school’s magnet program contact person.

“DCSS is committed to making sure our students are college and career ready,” says Tekmekia Gilchrist, Executive Director of CTAE/6-12 Curriculum for the district. “One way we are preparing our students is through the various robust Magnet programs at our high schools. Our students can choose from Liberal Arts College Prep at Alexander, Speech and Debate at Chapel Hill, International Baccalaureate (IB) at Douglas County, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) at Lithia Springs, and the visual and performing arts through F.A.M.E. at New Manchester. There is a program that can fit your student,” she explained.

Student applicants who complete the process for a magnet program will be notified of selection by email on Thursday, February 21, 2024 at 5:00 p.m.
