A capital project is a new construction, expansion, renovation or replacement project for an existing facility or facilities. Most of the school system's capital projects are funded by ESPLOST. This page will keep you apprised of the school system's capital projects and other major projects funded by ESPLOST.
ESPLOST V funded the elimination of 37 mobile units housing 74 classrooms, primarily through new buildings at Lithia Springs Elementary School, Chapel Hill Middle School and Alexander High School.
ESPLOST VI will fund even more projects benefiting Douglas County students. In addition to paying off bond debt, ESPLOST VI funds will support construction of a multi-purpose indoor arena for graduation ceremonies and other events, new construction on existing campuses and instructional technology upgrades. With ESPLOST VI, every school will receive funds and benefits based on projects and priorities generated by each school's principal.
